Barbara Doran is the Chief Investment Officer of Garrison Fathom’s Sagacity Funds. Ms. Doran is also the Founder and CEO of BD8 Capital Partners, an independent wealth advisory and investment management firm headquartered in New York City. The firm specializes in providing highly customized wealth management solutions, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment management for individuals, family offices, foundations, and endowments. BD8 Capital Partners emphasizes investment performance while offering comprehensive services such as personal financial planning, risk management, asset protection, and referral services for trust, estate, cash flow, and tax planning. The firm also manages proprietary large-cap growth portfolios as separately managed accounts.
With over 35 years of Wall Street experience, Ms. Doran has held senior roles at major financial institutions. At Neuberger Berman, she served as Research Investment Officer, Interim Director of Research, and co-managed a successful Technology, Media, and Telecommunications fund. Her extensive career also includes founding and managing two firms—a hedge fund and a marketing company specializing in asset raising and business consulting—as well as managing proprietary capital at Lehman Brothers. Before founding BD8 Capital Partners in 2018, Ms. Doran was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Director at YorkBridge Wealth Partners, where she played a key role on the firm’s Investment Committee, managed client portfolios, and authored market commentaries. She also served at Lebenthal Asset Management, overseeing large-cap growth portfolios and wealth advisory services, and was a member of its Investment Committee. Earlier in her career, she was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor at Morgan Stanley, where she was consistently recognized as a top performer. Ms. Doran holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and began her career in publishing, transitioning from journalist to the business side of the industry. She is also a distinguished athlete, having represented the United States as a member of both the U.S. Women’s National Lacrosse Team and the U.S. National Field Hockey Team in international competitions. Her dedication to public service spans over three decades, with leadership roles on various nonprofit boards. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at Penn State, her alma mater, where she earned a B.A. in English. At Penn State, she serves on the Executive Committee, chairs the Outreach, Development, and Community Relations Committee, and is a long-standing member of the Finance Committee.
